Opening and Closing Ceremonies

Flag ceremony rehearsal: tbc

Official Opening Ceremony: Monday 14th September 9:30 am

Official Closing Ceremony: Friday 18th September 11:00 am

We kindly ask that students dress in their school uniform for the Opening Ceremony. If your school doesn’t have an official uniform, students should dress smartly.

Student flag bearers: Schools should appoint a student Flag Bearer to present their school flag at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Please identify your school's Flag Bearer on the students' registration form. We recommend that you nominate the same student for both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Please bring your school flag with you in your hand luggage and submit it on arrival at the school so it can be prepared for the Opening Ceremony in good time. There is no need to bring flag poles or ties, we will provide these for you.

There will be a rehearsal before the opening ceremony, so please ensure that your flag bearer signs-in promptly at the registration desk and he/she will be shown where to be for the rehearsal.

Adventure Day

Wednesday 16th /Thursday 17th September

Your Adventure Day will involve a day at the iconic Great Ocean Road region; involving activities at the beach and river, having either surfing lessons or cruising down the river kayaking. Or, alternatively, you might select to go bushwalking or orienteering.

All levels of swimming capabilities will be catered for and necessary equipment supplied.

Bathers, comfortable shoes such as runners, sandals, hats, water bottles and sunscreen will be required.

Service Day

Tuesday 15th September

Our Service Day will take place in various locations around Ballarat, working with a variety of community organisations. We will also hold a ‘Service Fair’, where simple ideas for creating service activities at your school will be on display.

Due to the weather conditions and locations, students should all bring with them long pants, a long sleeved shirt, hat, working gloves, sunscreen, water bottle and sturdy shoes.

Student cultural performance

Student Cultural Performance rehearsals: TBC

Student Cultural Performance: Tuesday 15th September 7:00 pm – 9:00

The Student Cultural Performance is an evening of entertainment and a showcase of international talent and is designed to promote a spirit of internationalism. The event celebrates and shares the diversity of the Round Square network and schools’ rich cultural heritage and is a riot of colour and rhythm. Students perform by themselves or as part of a group and the performance is as creative as the student!

Get Involved: Schools attending the Conference are encouraged to represent their school and their region and to offer a short cultural performance reflecting their region.

Each region may present a maximum of 20 minutes of cultural items. If you would like to take part give us some basic information here.
